Casey Phelps - Charter Class

Casey Phelps, Class of 2001, was born to Lee and Patty Phelps in Spokane, Washington.  He has 2 older brothers, Josh and Bryan. He attended Lakeland High School from 1998 through 2001.

At Lakeland, Casey participated in football and wrestling then went on to wrestle at Boise State University.  His high school athletic accomplishments include:  4-time letterman in both football and wrestling, first team All-state in his junior and senior years in football, and honorable mention as a sophomore in football, 2-time state champion at 189 lbs. in his junior and seniors years in wrestling, voted Most Inspirational in both sports by his teammates.

At Boise State he was a 4-time letterman and helped his team win two pac-10 wrestling championships.  He was also a 2-time NCAA qualifier – finishing in the round of twelve as a senior, and earned the Pac-10 Academic All-conference award.

Casey is thankful to many people for inspiring and encouraging him to excel, but first and foremost he thanks his mom and dad for making him the person he is today, his coaches who taught him to believe in himself, and all of his teammates for pushing him along.

He has coached high school wrestling at Helena High School for the past 5 years, is married to Lena (Mortensen) Phelps of Helena, Montana, and they’re expecting their first child, a girl, in mid December.

Casey and Lena are currently residing in Helena, Montana.  He works on a ranch; where he is a fly fishing guide and also guides hunting trips.   He is also planning on starting his own outfitting business in the near future.
