Heather (Hosheit) Wilson - Charter Class

Heather (Hosheit) Wilson, Class of 1989, was born to John and Joyce Hosheit in Spokane, Washington.  Heather and her twin sister, Heidi, attended Lakeland High School from 1986 through 1989. She also has two brothers, also twins, Tracy and Tod, who graduated from Lakeland in 1986.

Heather participated in volleyball, basketball and softball throughout her high school years.  In her senior year, her volleyball team was state runner-up (which included All-state honors), and her basketball team won the state championship.

She earned a full-ride scholarship to participate in volleyball at the community college level and was pleased to be selected to the NWAACC first team and All-NWAACC Eastern region player.  In 1990 and 1991, she had the honor of participating in 2 Junior Olympic tryouts.

She earned another full-ride scholarship to participate in volleyball from Eastern Washington University where she was selected for All-Academic Honors in each participating season.  She is ranked in the top 10 for EWU volleyball “career leader assists per game” at 10.91/game and in “one season leader assists per game” at 11.16/game.  She also played in 220 career games and currently ranks seventh all-time in assists with 2,325.  Heather was also named to the All-tournament team at the Rice University Baden Classic (Houston, Texas), and selected as MVP at the University of Idaho Safeco Super 8 Classic tournament, and as Big Sky Athlete of the Week in each of her participating volleyball seasons.

Heather has had a 19-year career with Jubilant HollisterStier Laboratories.  As a Microbiologist Manager, she led a team to 1st place in a Gallup survey for employee satisfaction (out of a survey of 500+ employees).

Heather would like to thank Coach Claudia (Collins) Ebel for playing a huge role in her success as an athlete.  Claudia’s commitment to her teams and her drive to compete was the foundation of her success both on and off the court.

Beyond her volleyball career in college, Heather continued to contribute to the sport of volleyball by coaching.  She coached 12 and under (U12) divisions from 1999 through 2004, and also coached within the Mead High School program from 1999 through 2010 boasting 7 state championship titles during that era.

Heather states that her participation in high school and college athletics provided numerous benefits and opportunities that she wouldn’t have experienced otherwise.  She believes that the leadership skills, competitiveness and assertive disposition she gained as an athlete has proven to be valuable not only on the volleyball court, but in her daily encounters and how she built her career.

Heather is currently living in Spokane, Washington with her husband, Shawn, of 13 years, and her two children, Corbin (10) and Brielle, (7).  She enjoys spending time with her husband and children at their cabin at Priest Lake where she would like to retire and values every stage of growth of her children.
