Kara Kiefer - Charter Class

Kara Kiefer, Class of 2003, was born to Mark and Karol Kiefer of Rathdrum, Idaho.  Kara attended Lakeland High School from 1999 – 2003.   Kara has 2 brothers, Kirk, and Kameron and a sister-in-law, Lynsey, who are also graduated of Lakeland High School.

She participated in volleyball, basketball and track throughout high school, went on to North Idaho College and played basketball and volleyball for 1 year, then transferred to Tennessee State University to complete her degree and played volleyball for 2 more years.

Her high school athletic achievements include 3-year letterman in track, and 4-year letterman in volleyball and basketball, All North Idaho for volleyball and basketball in her senior year, All-state honors for volleyball and basketball in her senior year, Lakeland Booster Club Female Athlete of the Year in 2003, played on 2 state championship basketball teams (2001 and 2002), and recipient of the prestigious “Neff Award” in 2003.  Her college honors include North Idaho College SWAC Tournament Most Valuable Player in 2004, All-conference recognition by NIC in 2003 and 2004, North Idaho College Athlete of the Year award, 2004, North Idaho College volleyball team captain, 2004, and played on the Ohio Valley Conference volleyball championship team in 2005 at Tennessee State.  In addition, she was a club volleyball coach for numerous years and a member of 2 successful, Division 1, coaching staffs (WSU 2009 and 2010 and UI 2011 and 2012).

Kara has been inspired and supported by her parents, grandparents, siblings, and numerous extended family and friends.  She also thanks her coaches and teachers at Lakeland for her success.

She was a member of the Rathdrum Rotary Club in 2002-3, coached Lakeland youth and high school volleyball summer camps for numerous years throughout college and years following college, and provided individual youth volleyball sessions at Lakeland in 2013.

Kara is the proud aunt of 3 beautiful children, Karstyn, Kapree and Kinsey, and” surrogate aunt of 2 boys (her best friend’s children), Jaden and Bijan.

She resides in Moscow, Idaho and just landed a new job with WSU – teaching, advising and facilitating the leadership certification program within athletics.
