Shane Rasmussen - Class of 2015
Shane Jason Rasmussen, class of 1993, was born in Spokane, Washington on January 18, 1974 to Wayne and Linda Rasmussen. Shane is the 5th of 6 children. Shane was raised in a small cabin on 134 acres near Moose Jaw Lake in Eastern Washington.
In 1988, at the age of 14, his family moved to Bayview, Idaho. Once settled in Bayview, Shane began playing football for the Rathdrum town team, as a full back. He enrolled at Lakeland High School where his passion for football grew even more. His natural talent and physical prowess was quickly noticed by the Lakeland coaching staff. As a sophomore, he earned a spot on the varsity football team. He played football, basketball, and competed at State in track.
Throughout his years at Lakeland, Shane’s football accomplishments include Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, All-Intermountain League, All-North Idaho and All-State. He had an ACL injury at the beginning of the 92-93 football season that considerably reduced his playing time during his senior year. He also was a state qualifier in track.
After his graduation from Lakeland, Shane was approached by several colleges to play football for them, but in the end chose Boise State University. He moved to Boise, where he played for the Broncos in the Fall of 1994. After several injuries, including a blown ankle and two knee surgeries, Shane decided to pursue other things in life.
Shane met and married his wife, Shannon, in 1998. They have three sons, Tyler, Mason, and Cooper. Shane and his family now reside in the small mountain community of Cambridge, Idaho, where he and his family spend most of their time in the great outdoors, doing what they love most - hunting and fishing.
