Harrison Bertsch - Class of 2015

Harrison Bertsch, Class of 1999 was born to David and Janelle Bertsch December 18, 1980 in Boise, Idaho. Harrison is the middle child, with an older brother, Shad Bertsch and younger sister, Rachael Bertsch Winters.

Harrison attended Lakeland High School from 1995 through 1999. He lettered 11 times at Lakeland, four-year starter on varsity football, 3 years of varsity basketball and, lettered 4 times in track and field.  After graduation, Harrison went on to play football at the University of Idaho where he red shirted as a freshman. The following year he transferred to Linfield college in McMinnville Oregon playing football for 4 years while getting his degree in education. After college Harrison had a short stint playing arena football for the Wyoming Calvary and played one season in the German Football League for the Franken Knights. After this he completed his Master’s Degree in Education from Whitworth University.

 

Harrison’s athletic achievements at Lakeland High School include, IML conference player of the year in the 1998, 2 time all-state selection at linebacker, 3 time All Leagues selection, senior year voted MVP and Most Inspirational in football, Most Inspirational and Hawk award in basketball and MVP in track and field in 1998.

At Linfield College, Harrison was selected as the Northwest Conference defensive player of year in 2003, College Sports Information Directors 3rd Team All-American 2003, 1st team linebacker West Region Football Gazette 2003, received the Linfield College Vern Marshal Tenacity in Competition all sports award, 3 time all North West Conference selection, voted team captain and defensive MVP in 2003, holds the all time assisted tackle record at Linfield college.

Harrison currently resides in Rathdrum, Idaho, with his wife Lisa Bertsch and their two children, Byron and Hadley. He has taught Health and P.E. and coached football and basketball in the Post Falls School District for the last seven years. Harrison enjoys spending time with his family, being in the outdoors hunting and tournament bass fishing. His plans for the future include continuing to be a family man, teaching, coaching and plenty of fishing.
