Levi Cushman - Class of 2015
Levi Cushman, Class of 1999 was born to Bruce and Patti Cushman of Rathdrum, Idaho. He has one brother, Ben and one sister, Erin.
Levi’s athletic accomplishments at Lakeland include:
Football (1997-1999)
3-year, two-way starter and 3 varsity letters
Offensive tackle, defensive end and long snapper
All-league lineman for 2 years, Lineman of the Year 1998 and 2nd team All-state 1998
Wrestling (1996-1999)
4 year varsity and 4 varsity letters
3-time state qualifier
District champion
3rd place state tournament
Track and Field (1996-1999)
4 year varsity and 4 varsity letters
2-time district champion – discus; 2nd and 3rd place State – discus; 6th place State – shot put
In addition, he was awarded the 1999 John Neff Memorial Award and the 1999 Inland Northwest Spokesman Review Athlete of the Year.
His college athletic accomplishments include:
North Idaho College track scholarship
NJCAA national championship qualifier – 35 lb weight throw
NJCAA All-American - 35 lb weight throw
Eastern Washington University partial track scholarship
2-time Big Sky Conference championship qualifier – outdoor hammer throw
Levi graduated from Eastern Washington University in 2004 with a degree in Business Education. He has been a Business Technology teacher at Lakeland High and Lakeland Junior High for the last 10 years. He was the assistant varsity wrestling coach for 9 years and has been coaching junior high wrestling the last two years. He’s been coaching track and field at Lakeland Junior High for 11 years and coached freshman football for 1 year. In addition, he has coached youth soccer and T-ball.
Levi married Nicole Piazza of Coeur d’Alene in 2007. They live in Hayden, Idaho, and have 2 wonderful children (son Dawson, age 6 and Millie Lou, age 4) who are just starting their sports careers. When not coaching, Levi enjoys hunting, river rafting, camping, fly fishing and hiking. He also enjoys cooking and playing board games with his family.
