"SPOKANE — Sophomore Katy Ryan had 21 points and eight rebounds for the Hawks, who trailed by just three points at halftime before getting outscored 18-8 in the third quarter of the Border Clash game at West Valley High.
“We were able to get her the ball in a position to score,” Lakeland coach Steve Seymour said of Ryan. “In the third quarter it kind of slipped away. We just didn’t have an answer when we needed to have an answer.”
Taylor Elpers had seven points and four assists for Lakeland (1-3), and Mel Loutzenhiser had four steals.
Hailey Marlow led West Valley with 20 points.
Lakeland travels to Kellogg on Tuesday.
