"SPOKANE — The Hawks led by 11 at halftime following a 26-point second quarter, but sputtered offensively in the second half as the host Eagles rallied in the Border Clash at West Valley High.
Shooting guard Bryan Andrews made 10 3-pointers and scored 38 points for West Valley. He hit three 3s in the third quarter as part of the Eagles’ comeback.
“We put a lot of attention on (Nick) Drynan,” a point guard who scored 23 points against Lake City on Friday night, Lakeland assistant coach Tyrel Derrick said. “Andrews did a good job finding spaces, and we didn’t do a good job recognizing him.”
Ben Zubaly led Lakeland (1-1) with 14 points. Josiah Haaland added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Hawks, and Jalen Skalskiy had 11 points and eight boards.
Lakeland travels to Kellogg on Tuesday.
