"RATHDRUM — For Lakeland senior Taylor Woolley, the lucky number was seven on Saturday.

Seven runs batted in at the plate. Seven strikeouts in the circle.

Woolley homered twice, including a sixth-inning grand slam to send the Hawks past the Moscow Bears 22-12 in the first game in the 4A Inland Empire League opener for both schools at Lakeland High.

“Taylor hitting two home runs was pretty phenomenal,” Lakeland coach Colleen Bevacqua said. “We played well as a team, and the girls did a great job. We did some good things today, and that was nice to see.”

The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was postponed due to rain.

Erika Gallus had three hits and three RBIs for Lakeland (1-9), which is scheduled to host Sandpoint in a doubleheader on Tuesday starting at 3 p.m.
