"COEUR d’ALENE — Lauren Phillips had 16 assists and seven kills as the Vikings swept the Hawks 25-10, 25-22, 25-20 in nonleague play.
Taylin Rowley added 16 assists for Coeur d’Alene (10-4), Kelly Horning 12 kills, Sarah Wilkey seven digs, Liliana Hare four blocks.
“I thought we served a lot tougher tonight; we were able to get Lakeland out of their offense,” Coeur d’Alene coach Carly Curtis said. “And we blocked real well.”
Katy Ryan had 18 kills, Abbey Neff 19 assists for Lakeland (13-7). Daphne Carroll added seven kills and five aces, Jenny Wirtz five blocks, Olivia Cooper 16 digs, Summer Powell 11 digs.
“Coeur d’Alene is tough but our girls battled the second and third sets,” Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger said. “I am extremely proud with the improvements our girls made after the first set. Katy Ryan had a great game and Olivia Cooper dig some really tough hits.”
On Thursday, Lakeland is home vs. University, and Coeur d’Alene hosts Post Falls in the annual “Volleyball 4 the Cure” match for breast cancer awareness."
